S. C. Sarkar Gymnasium
Sports are taken seriously at XLRI. The fields/courts on campus include Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Tennis and Volleyball. There is a multi-gymnasium located in the building named after Mr. S. C. Sarkar.
Indoor sports facilities are available in the students' residences.
In addition to the facilities on campus, students at XL have access to swimming pools, tennis courts, squash courts, and a synthetic athletics track through our affiliation with local clubs and other sports associations.
Hostel facilities at XLRI, are provided for students of the residential programs, consist of the four hostel blocks with more than 400 rooms in total. Every hostel room has access points linking it to the campus-wide network and the various network resources and services.
The first hostel block to be built, this building is an imposing five-storied structure that was constructed in 1969. GH1 has 100+ rooms in both single-occupancy and twin-sharing formats. This building also houses the XL mess, the kitchens, "Cellar" the convenience store. GH1 has three large open areas for student functions and recreational activities. Enright Hall containing recreation and indoor sporting facilities is also situated inside GH1.
GH3 is the newest of the four hostel buildings on the XLRI campus. This building is a sprawling three-storied structure with 100+ single-occupancy rooms. This building has a brand new mess and a large atrium for student functions and social gatherings. It also has a common recreation room with TV.
The New Ladies Hostel was built in 1998 in order to accommodate an increasing number of girl students across the various programmes. A three-storied building, it provides accommodation in 45 single/double occupancy rooms. Each floor is equipped with facilities, such as phones, water filter & cooler, a common room and TV, which create a homely atmosphere. All hostel rooms are computerized and have 24 hours internet access. The Internet and the Intranet of the Institute enable the students to constantly interact with each other and be connected to the outside world.
A smaller hostel block GH2 is a three storied building and shares messing and other facilities with GH1 and GH3. It has 20+ twin-sharing rooms.
It is the newly constructed hostel building and is located in the adjoining extension campus. Fr McGrath Residence house canteen and gym facilities along with two separate hostels for boys and girls. There are 384 single-room accommodations.
Information Technology is unarguably the defining force of this millennium, and XLRI is poised to break new ground as the most e-enabled Business School in India. The initial focus of being system friendly has now resulted in a virtual flood of e-initiatives. Beginning with the up gradation of infrastructure like marching towards Wi-Fi campus, supplemented by the introduction of new courses, workshops, seminars, live projects and setting up a Centre for e-Business that aims to facilitate industry-academia interface. Thus enabling the creation of whole new batch of tech-savy managers with the skills to integrate technology solutions to the workplace environment has begun.
The computing resources at XLRI include latest servers and workstations, a state-of-the-art campus network and 500 MBPS raw bandwidth WAN connectivity. There are high-end servers, which host the XLRI web page, Mail and SNTP server, Oracle, Lotus notes, SAS, DB2 and other software.
Apart from value added learning of different packages, access to various database, electronic journal and software, XLRI is providing Web hosted SAP solution for hands on ERP through University Alliance programme.
XLRI has GIGABIT Fiber backbone throughout the campus to support the Institute`s local area network. Every student is equipped with a laptop/desktop in his/her room and has round the clock access to intranet as well as internet. Entire academic activities such as e-bulletin board, e-discussion forum, grades and feedback, on line leave application, course outline, electives, handouts, class schedule are made available to the faculty, students and the administration on their desktop. Apart from the individual nodes, more than 500 units of latest Pentium workstation, scanners, laser printers or desk jet printers, close circuit camera, multimedia projectors, digital camera to serve the desk need of faculty, student’s computer centre, classrooms, examination hall, auditorium, library and various administrative offices. The institute also has its own video conferencing facility through dedicated ISDN lines.
As part of our IT services, current students of XLRI will be provided with an official XLRI email ID, offering a storage capacity of 25GB. Upon graduation, the email ID will continue to be available, with a storage capacity of 15GB. Please note that these email IDs will be provided exclusively to our regular students and those enrolled in AICTE-approved PGDM online programs.
The campus has two state-of-the-art auditoriums to accommodate large seating, sightlines, and acoustical requirements. Fr Tome Auditorium named after Fr. William N Tome SJ, Director of XLRI from 1962 to 1970 and again from 1973 to 1978 has a seating capacity of about 150, hosts several internal student events, guest lectures and seminars, and the student general body meetings.
The Tata Auditorium, with a seating capacity of about 1500 hosts all major events ranging from the Annual Convocation, the Ethics Oration and Ensemble to perform in arts and music from the finest connoisseurs from India and abroad. It has played host to a huge number of eminent personalities over the years.

XLRI provides 4 separate dining halls in the student residences that cater to the needs of the students, staff, and faculty members. These dining halls offer fixed menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with the menu changing monthly. The kitchens are well-equipped with modern appliances and skilled staff, ensuring the preparation of hygienic, healthy, and sustainable meals. The university takes pride in providing a diverse and satisfying dining experience for its community. In addition to the on-campus dining facilities, there are also other dining options available both within and outside the campus, offering a wide range of culinary choices to suit individual preferences.
The faculty residents at XLRI consist of a total of 77 faculty quarters/flats available in 2BHK and 3BHK configurations. These residences are designed to provide comfortable and convenient living spaces for the faculty members and their family. By providing dedicated housing facilities, XLRI demonstrates its commitment to supporting & prioritizing the well-being and convenience of its esteemed teaching staff. All the residences are fully equipped with internet facilities and artfully designed with all necessities in proximity.
The Golden Jubilee Garden at XLRI serves as a beautiful setting for various events such as Convocation Dinner, Alumni Parties, Staff Gatherings, etc. The JLT Lawn is dedicated to student activities and parties, including regional dinners, fostering a vibrant and engaging environment for student life. The campus is adorned with expansive lawns, where students can relax, study, or engage in outdoor activities. The lush greenery creates a serene and vibrant environment and acts as a peaceful backdrop for learning, fostering creativity and encouraging a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
The campus offers convenient mobility options with over 200 bicycles available for use. Vendors are readily available to address repair and maintenance needs. Additionally, there are 20+ bicycle stands strategically placed at peak locations for easy access & parking.
XLRI has air-conditioned lecture halls, examination halls, computer center and syndicate rooms, all of which contain access points to the campus-wide network. There are twelve state-of-the-art classrooms with multimedia presentation support. The seating arrangement is amphitheater style, and each lecture hall seats 70 students. These classrooms also support closed-circuit recording and play-back of lecture sessions. The four Syndicate Rooms are multipurpose areas for other academic exercises.
The campus has visiting doctors who are available during specific hours every day and full-time nurses are available on the campus for 24x7 support. Round the clock medical assistance is available through access to the renowned Tata Main Hospital, an 850-bed modern multi-disciplinary hospital which is just one km away from campus. The hospital provides world class medical facilities to students and faculty alike.

The Learning Center at XLRI has three conference halls, each equipped with advanced audio-visual systems, comfortable seating arrangements, ensuring seamless presentations and engaging discussions.
