Centre for Entrepreneurship
The Centre for Entrepreneurship at XLRI – Xavier School of Management serves as the institutional hub for fostering innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit among students and aspiring entrepreneurs. With a vision to inspire and empower individuals to build ventures that contribute positively to society, the Centre focuses on developing a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem through structured programs and initiatives.
Its mission is to equip students and entrepreneurs with the knowledge, skills, and resources required to transform ideas into impactful ventures. Through experiential learning and collaborative engagement, the Centre aims to nurture responsible and future-ready entrepreneurs.
XCITE: XLRI Council for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship
Functioning under the Centre for Entrepreneurship, the XLRI Council for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship (XCITE) is the dedicated platform that drives innovation-led initiatives at XLRI.
XCITE focuses on:
- Promoting innovation and startup culture
- Supporting early-stage ventures and entrepreneurs
- Enabling collaboration between academia, industry, and society
- Creating opportunities for applied learning and experimentation
It acts as a bridge between academic knowledge and real-world entrepreneurial practice, ensuring that ideas are translated into scalable and sustainable solutions.
Launch of Rural Business Incubation Centre (RBIC) under XCITE
Taking this vision forward, XLRI marked a significant institutional milestone on 28 March 2026 with the inauguration of the Rural Business Incubation Centre (RBIC) under XCITE. The initiative is supported as a five-year grant-aided programme under the Gramya Vikas Nidhi Scheme of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).
The Centre was formally inaugurated by Shri. Shaji K. V., Chairman, NABARD, in the presence of the Board of Governors of XLRI. The occasion was graced by T. V. Narendran, Chairman, Board of Governors, XLRI, along with the Institute's leadership including Fr. Sebastian George, Director; Fr. Donald D'Silva, Dean – Administration & Finance; and Sanjay Patro, Dean – Academics.

About the Rural Business Incubation Centre (RBIC)
The RBIC is a focused initiative aimed at fostering entrepreneurship in rural and underserved regions, with emphasis on agri-business, sustainability, circular economy, and inclusive innovation.
Through XCITE, XLRI will support startups across 12 states in Eastern and North-Eastern India:
“Social Impact First, Profit Second”
The initiative prioritizes:
Tribal livelihoods
Women-led enterprises
Sustainable and inclusive development
Significance and Way Forward
The RBIC is the first NABARD-funded rural business incubation centre housed within an Indian business school, positioning XLRI as a key enabler of grassroots innovation.
It will serve as a platform for:
Mentorship and incubation support
Access to funding and grants
Market linkages and scaling opportunities
Together, the Centre for Entrepreneurship → XCITE → RBIC framework reflects XLRI's integrated approach to innovation and entrepreneurship. This initiative strengthens the institute's commitment to creating meaningful social impact while promoting sustainable economic development.
Current Status
XCITE is currently operational under the leadership of its CEO, Mr. Ravish Vasan, who is overseeing the day-to-day functioning from the allotted RBIC facility within the XLRI campus.
The institute is in the process of establishing its governance and operational framework, including the formation of key committees and the development of venture selection and evaluation criteria.
Simultaneously, recruitment for the core management team is being undertaken on priority to strengthen the institutional foundation of RBIC and support the long-term vision of XCITE.

The launch of XCITE's first cohort of selected ventures marks the beginning of its incubation journey focused on fostering high-impact and scalable enterprises.
