In order to bring attention to and critically address common issues and resources, the phrase "Global South" emerged from a desire to form partnerships amongst traditionally marginalised areas. However, these countries are also showing remarkable signs of resilience, resurgence, growth, and innovation.  This apart, people and places in the "Global South" have suffered greatly as a result of colonisation and modern-day global capitalism. The center acknowledges that there are pockets of the South in the North and vice-versa, and the center takes into consideration and appreciates the opportunity to learn from the experiences of the ' repressed groups even inside the wealthy nations.
